I suppose I should write about my heart surgery. Friday I woke up at 6am and went to the hospital. They put me in a gown and booties and made me sit on a temporary bed until 8am when my surgery was supposed to start. To make the time go by faster, I took pictures and talked to Mary, because Mary is always awake at the crack of dawn.

Personally, I think this picture is adorable on the verge of nauseating. My eyes remind me of that Japanese girl on Youtube who stares at you for entire videos. Anyway, then they came in and decided they needed to give me an IV and draw blood. Except that I’m so small my veins refuse to come out and cooperate so they put the IV in my hand. Needless to say they got their blood. And so did the bedsheets.

At about 8am they came in to take me to the operating room. They laid me on a gurney and rode me around the hospital. This was the part that scared me the most. It was like a bad amusement park ride. I kept passing by all these people waving at me and doors were automatically opening for me and it was just creepy as shit. The operating room was way in the back of this hallway that reminded me of a janitors closet and the temperature in there was below 0. Or so it felt to me because I was wearing a gown. A bunch of nurses came and covered me in patches to attach the heart monitors to, but they had a hard time fitting them all onto my tiny body so they had to keep adjusting them. Mind you these patches were also freezing. Finally they gave me about 6 blankets and a heating blanket because I was shaking. And then Dr. V came. Dr. V was my anesthesiologist. He was a tiny Asian man and all I could understand him say was, “Are you 100% certain you aren’t pregnant?” and “I’m going to give you some happy juice now.” The happy juice was amazing. After that, I was out.
I woke up at noon with a mighty urge to pee. Except I couldn’t. My bladder was screaming “Empty me!” but my body refused to let me go. I wasn’t allowed to sit up or really elevate myself in any way. So I laid in agony on top of a bedpan for an hour. They took me back into my temporary room and let me rest. Mom decided to go home and take a nap and at 3pm she would come back with Mike. Finally, after hours of straining, I peed. And it was the most glorious pee I’ve ever experienced. I will never take a toilet for granted again. Ahem. At that point, I decided to take a nap because I was so groggy from the happy juice.
I woke up at 4pm because, oh hey, I had to pee again. Except this time the nurse let me walk to the bathroom. Hoho. I snuck into my purse to get my DS and played that for a while, talking to Dawn and Mike as the day went on. Oh yes, at some point, I realized that my vagina was orange. So Dawn and Cam decided to start calling me Oompapoon. I’ll probably never live it down.

Mom and Mike came back at about 6pm. By then, they had moved me to a permanent bed and given me dinner. Dinner consisted of a rubber potato, rubber chicken, asparagus, and … chocolate ice cream. I ate the ice cream
Mike brought me chicken strips, fries, and a shake from Carls. Om nom nom. He sat on my bed with me and we watched CSI together until 8pm when mom decided to go home. So I was left alone to sleep in this weird hospital bed, which actually wasn’t very hard. I slept pretty well other than the fact that the nurses woke me up every two hours to take my blood pressure, temperature, check my heart monitor, and at one point take my blood. Fucking vampires. At 7am my surgeon, Dr. Bridges, came in to tell me that I could go home whenever I was ready. So mom came and we left at about 10am. They finally took the IV out of my hand, and took the patches off my body. Then I went home and slept.
For the past few days I’ve done nothing but sleep and play Maple Story. My heart rate is still fast, and it probably will be for quite a while. My crotch hurts a lot when I walk. I took the bandages off my incisions and they actually aren’t that big, so I covered them with bandaids. All in all, the surgery was a success. I won’t have to take pills ever again. And I’m so happy
Mike has been really wonderful. He’s been getting me whatever I need so I don’t have to move too much, and he helped me shower in case my legs gave out. :3 I loaf him. And I loaf everyone who cared enough to see how I was. Especially Kloey and Lizzie, for being ninjas and sneaking cupcakes into my refridgerator.
